Wallis Bird, the folkish singer-songwriter from Ireland, is somewhat of a veteran, having been performing for over a decade.
She now tours Europe prolifically, having built up a certain affinity with (and fan base in) her home away from home, Germany. Her fifth studio album Home was released at the end of September.
During a gap in her tour of England, she was kind enough to drop by for an interview and a SoundCheck session, whence she graced us with a raw and heartfelt performance of two tracks from Home.
WALLIS BIRD - CHANGE
DISORDER: What are you working on right now?
WALLIS: Right now I'm working on my tour. England. It's raw, nuts, tough, but worth it.
How has living in Berlin influenced your music?
I'm extremely happy in the city, my love, my best friends, my home, my studio, constant inspiration around me, my life is the best it's been so I put a lot of that down to the city itself.
What has been the biggest lesson along the way?
Find the fun in everything. Don't be a dick.
WALLIS BIRD - THAT LEADS THE WAY
What/where do you like to eat or drink?
Pussy! Ah sorry, I couldn't resist! Haha! I love a fine Guinness in an old man's pub; as good as most meals I've had.
What talent do you wish you had?
I'd love to be talented in the service industry, that’s a huge array of personality talents in one that I think you're born with; unfortunately something I'm shite at, but really appreciate in others.
What is your idea of happiness?
Just that – happiness. That moment you realise you're actually happy is a milestone. Nothing better than that.
