The Norwegian pop sensation emerged last year with the release of her catchy debut single Backbeat. Understated and sincere, Dagny gives us a flavour of her hopes, her dreams and her obsession with Lorde.

DISORDER: What’s your elevator pitch?
DAGNY: I'm Dagny. I'm from the north of Norway. I make band-driven, energetic pop music. My most recent track is called Wearing Nothing and this autumn I'm touring the US and releasing more upbeat, hooky singles.

What people, places or things inspire you?
Amazing concerts and people who are really good at what they do. And travelling!

What artists turn you on?
Right now I'm actually experiencing my first Lorde obsession! I am very late for that one, I'll admit. But I'm fascinated by her lyrics and her originality.

What is your ultimate ambition?
TO TOUR THE WORLD! Among many, many other things.

What got you started?
Watching [American jazz singer] Eva Cassidy on the TV one Christmas. She was sitting in the corner of a little pub in Brooklyn or somewhere. I was mesmerised and picked up the guitar shortly after.

What has been the biggest lesson along the way?
That DIY will get you a long way. And that skirts with a full zipper are a bad idea on stage.

Who was your first crush?
This beautiful man I met when I was a teenager. I met him only two months before he made the move to the other side of the world, so it was the definition of short and sweet.

What fictional character can you most relate to?
As a kid I always thought Mulan was pretty badass. I was a bit of a tomboy.

What do you like to eat or drink?
After I moved to London I got obsessed with Asian food, especially Thai and Vietnamese. And I love coconut water and wine. That would be the feast at Casa de Dagny.

What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I was really great at sewing. How cool would it be to make my own stage outfits?

When do you feel most yourself?
Whenever I'm with people I really feel relaxed with.

What is your worst trait?
I should probably have been born sometime during the 1800s because I'm the worst at replying to texts and emails, which gets me in trouble sometimes.

What would you most like to change in the world?
I absolutely hate the fact that we don't take care of our planet. Nothing gets to me more than our buy-and-throw society, our insane use of plastic, the sheer amount of garbage we poison our oceans with, and how this affects both wildlife and ultimately ourselves.

What is your dominant characteristic?

What do you appreciate most in your friends?
Good conversations, spontaneity and that we always wish the best for each other.

How/for what do you want to be remembered?
I hope the people that remember me remember me for living an exciting life with them and making the most of every day.

Unpaid endorsement: what can you recommend?
Doc Martens boots. I even wear them during the summer!

What is your idea of happiness?
Doing what you love and being content with it.

What is your present state of mind?
Excited! I'm in the middle of an amazing festival summer, and as soon as it ends I'm going on my first ever North American tour, which I've always dreamt about.

What would you do if you were not doing this?
I’d probably be an astronaut.
